ISOMETRIC SUSHI ICONS (PROJ 6)

Image
Another task I explored further was the 10 things I cannot live without icons posted on May, 29. I used a different style of illustration called isometric by creating a grid and drawing 3D objects on Illustrator. I wanted to challenge myself with this as I did not enjoy the process last time.  I went back to how to create a grid on Illustrator which started me off. The icons I have created are of different types of sushi but not round and organic, they are geometric, straight lines. The reason behind this was to show the isometric feel, more in a geometric form. I have been inspired by many different isometric illustrations and most are geometric. The only elements that are organic are the sushi filling and the salmon.  I used basic and softer colours that I believe represents the different parts of a sushi roll. The colours positioned are identifiable for the viewer such as green is avocado, light pink is the salmon, red is fish row and black is seaweed. After adding...

VANS HALLOWEEN EDITION (PROJ 6)

Image
I have chosen one creative piece to explore which is the pattern from paper technique done in May, 22. The reason for choosing this is because it was exciting to create a pattern using folds and cuts of paper and aligning them right to create this continuous pattern after using Photoshop. So with this, I want to create a new pattern with this technique. Halloween is nearly upon us as the ghouls and witches are ready to scare any on their victims. This was lead to the theme and concept of creating a Halloween special edition pattern for Vans. They already have a customization section of their website to customize your own vans shoes on any shoe style. Already on the Vans website, they have released the Tim Burton edition for Halloween. My style is very different and simplistic and is created using the pattern on paper technique.  However, I want to further explore the customize section by creating a new designed box that is the shape and colour...

PORTFOLIO - PROJ 3

Image
During my 3rd and final year of becoming a graphic designer, I have slowly been identifying myself with a style of simplicity and a natural flare. I do not go with the crowd so I identify myself as an Indie who is someone who thinks independently and starts their own trend. I am inspired by nature which is shown through my designs and creative solutions. For project   of Visual Communication, I created a simple portfolio designs that expresses myself style with the idea of becoming a graphic designer after my studies. I created a box that held different aspects of my journey through the  years of studying and the theme of simplicity and a natural flare. In the box had 3 A5 series books called photography, freelance and specialisation. They were bound with a little sleeve called 'book series'. Each book had the same style and colours through out. Stickers and my CV was added inside too to show my illustration skills and a bit about myself for future jobs. The CV was done as a...

NEW IDENTITY

Image
So I have recently changed my brand name to something that truly describes me. I am covered in tattoos and more to come which expresses my inner creativity. I am shy but my tattoos speak louder. Anyway, indie refers to my mind set I have chosen which is I think independently and make my own decisions, I do not follow the crowd, I make the crowd (if that makes sense). In lesser words, I am a trend setter. BUSINESS CARDS   LOOK AND COLOURS

SPEED BRIEF - SEA GLASS TYPOGRAPHY

Image
This was part of a speed brief from Garth Walker in the typography industry who told us to be inspired by ways of creating typography. I was inspired to create type from sea glass and use the actual  shape of the glass and resemble different letters. The challenge was to create our name with the chosen object. I took a picture of each shape that I thought resembled a letter, played around with it in Photoshop and added 'scratched' letters on top to show the letters and get a better understanding of what the letters were saying. The feedback I received was very good as it was a lot of working progress to do but overall it Garth Walker enjoyed what I made.

FREELANCE - BUSINESS CARD

Image
I was asked to redesign of a business card for a close friend who is a hair dresser. The previous business card was too outdated and needed a fresher look and feel. During the process, it was a challenge since the client knew what she wanted so getting on the same page was a struggle but in the end, the final business card turned out very well and suited her theme. VEGA BRAND CHALLENGE 2019

Image
Midlands Meander was the chosen client for this years brand challenge. My team, Little Black Book, challenge their brief and created solutions for their various routes and bring the feeling of a journey. Concept: Unlimited adventures, one route at a time. As being one of the creatives, I designed one of 3 executions which was the redesign of their manual guide as a passport size journal. In the journal it had the 5 Midlands Meander routes with a key find so it was easy to navigate each place and encourage individuals to come back each time. A stamp was added so once completed a place, a butterfly stamp would stamp that specific place by the Midlands Meander members.  The colours used are from the original route colours so it still shows the Midlands Meander look and feel but with added illustrations. The illustrations I drew to fit into the natural theme of the Midlands. An A3 map was map to fit into the pocket of the journal so the original map can be accessed too ...
